FSU Credit Union is a proud supporter of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). Our Borrow 4 Less – Give Back More program raised $4,480 for CMNH, and the donation was presented by FSU Credit Union President/CEO Chuck Adcock at Miracles on Madison, Benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event was held in Tallahassee on May 19 in honor of and to support area children who have been or are treated at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.

UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is Tallahassee’s CMN hospital and is one of more than 170 CMN-affiliated hospitals in North America. Although it is located in Gainesville, the impact it has on our Tallahassee children is immeasurable. Last year alone children from our area passed through the doors of Shands facilities more than 13,000 times. Each of these children were in need of specialized care not available to them locally.

But now, thanks to the support of the community, Shands is providing care right here in Tallahassee, alleviating that 5-hour round trip for children in need of ongoing treatment. Shands physicians from nine specialties will regularly travel to Tallahassee to see new and returning patients in person. In addition to these visits, patients will be able to be seen by their physician through telehealth technology. During telehealth visits, full-time nurses and staff will care for patients with the Shands specialty physician interacting directly with the patient via live video chat.

Funds raised through CMN events, campaigns, and programs in the Tallahassee area not only purchase state-of-the-art equipment for the hospital and fund pediatric research and patient education programs, but also fund the initiatives right here in our area at the Tallahassee-based Shands pediatric clinic, specifically telehealth.
