The Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Children’s Center is focused on providing superior care to children ranging in age from newborn to adolescent throughout a 17-county region encompassing North Florida and South Georgia. The pediatric unit within the Children’s Center consists of 23 beds, all in private rooms, making it the largest pediatric unit in the Big Bend area. The Children’s Center cares for nearly 5,000 children annually with a wide variety of conditions, including those recovering from surgical procedures.TMH Children's Center

The Children’s Center provides children specialized care including:

  • Support from a Child Life Specialist to help normalize their environment
  • Care from the most experienced certified pediatric staff in the Big Bend
  • Engaging distractive activities via the playroom, interactive games and art, music and animal therapies

The Children’s Center encompasses pediatrics, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Kids Korner, outpatient pediatric surgery, pediatric emergency services, pediatric rehabilitation, adolescent behavior health, pediatric diabetes and pediatric specialties in genetics, cardiology, ophthalmology, critical care, neurology, endocrinology, nephrology and radiology.

The PICU houses 10 beds and is the only hospital unit of its kind within 100 miles of Tallahassee equipped to care for critically ill children. Physicians who specialize in pediatric intensive care are on-site or on-call 24 hours a day.

Kids Korner is also located in the Children’s Center to provide convenient outpatient care and includes four beds with a specialized nursing staff. It is the only pediatric outpatient center in the area that treats children and allows families to stay close to home for pediatric outpatient surgeries and necessary medical treatments.
