In 2018, our Borrow 4 Less – Give Back More initiative has focused on championing youth services programs in the communities we serve. This month, we are pleased to announce we are supporting The Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida, which serves youth of Taylor County, the location of Tree Capital Credit Union, a division of FSU Credit Union.
The Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida provides a structured, viable, and caring after-school and summer facility for youth ages 5-18, no matter their circumstances, to help them reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. $10 for every eligible auto loan financed or refinanced with FSU Credit Union/Tree Capital Credit Union in October will be donated to the Club.
The Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida was founded in 1990 by a group of caring and concerned citizens who wanted quality after-school programming for the youth of Taylor County. Services of the Club include homework help, education and literacy, sports, fitness and recreation, career, health and life skills, character and leadership, and more. The programs are housed in four clubs: Veteran’s Park Club, the Teen Club, Steinhatchee Stingray Club, and the Shady Grove Club.
The Club serves more than 1,500 Taylor County youths per year (around 350 per day), and all the services are free. The Club also provides a healthy snack and dinner during the school year and breakfast and lunch during the summer. In 2017, the Club served 68,818 meals and 20,514 breakfasts.
An independent evaluator (Edumatrix LLC.) reports academic progress of Clubs to the Florida Department of Education and found the following results for the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida:
