Checking Accounts

Student Checking Accounts

Once you start earning money, wisely managing your finances is essential. The best way to do this is by opening a checking account at a reliable financial institution. If you’re ready, becoming a member of FSU Credit Union can help you to navigate the process of opening and using a checking account effectively.

Youth Checking Accounts

A checking account provides a convenient way to deposit your money and access it for making purchases. If you are 16 or older, you qualify for a debit card to accompany your checking account. This debit card is a direct means to access your funds and make purchases. Checking accounts are accessible anytime and can be used with debit cards, depositing checks, ATMs, and Online/Mobile banking services.

Before you begin your application to open a checking account, FSU Credit Union will need the following items to verify your identity:

  • State Registered ID

OR

  • Birth Certificate & Social Security Card

AND

  • Parent/Guardian as the joint owner

Any minor can open a youth account along with a Joint Owner, usually a parent or guardian. They share responsibility for the account. Their signing is significant because, in Florida, only your parent or guardian can sign the contract until you turn 18. Once the contract is signed, you can work with your parent or guardian to access your savings account.

Our financial representatives at every FSU Credit Union branch will help you through these steps to set up your account. Please feel free to Contact Us for more questions.
